TIP If you click on a photo it will open a lightbox
enlarging the photos and allowing you to scroll back and forth using the arrow keys on your keyboard.
lightbox
is open, some images can be zoomed. For these images the cursor is a small magnifying glass rather than the normal arrow. Once zoomed, the cursor will change further to a hand allowing you to move around the entire image by holding the mouse button down and dragging. Clicking with the hand will return to an un-zoomed image. This collection will be about Richard, and there will be many more images telling his story. At this time, it is only protecting a drawing done of Richard while he was a patient at Toronto's Hospital for Sick Children. On September 7, 1994, a woman approached Carol and me to request our permission to draw Richard. We agreed, although I can say that we did not fully understand what we agreed to. When the artist finished, she gave us a photocopy of the drawing. We wouldn't tell you that we liked it at first, but as time has gone by, I understand that it depicts how he felt, not how we felt about him. Looking at the image from that point of view has dramatically increased its value to me. This image helps me put the pandemic in perspective.
