I received the sad word this morning from his wife Beverly that Dave passed away yesterday. Dave and I go back quite a few years at Loblaw, our careers there being very similar but at different ends of the country. Most of my career was involved in activities in Ontario, Quebec and the Maritime provinces. Dave held important positions in British Columbia and Alberta. Although Dave and I did things very differently we were able to collaborate well and eventually place all of Loblaw under the same set of systems.
After both Dave and I retired, we would meet again in Palm Desert and talk about our days at loblaw over dinner, at the theatre, or just walking. He was the only person from Loblaw that I maintained contact with and a couple of hours with Dave meant that I was completely up to date on that organization.
Carol and Bev became friends and shared all of their experiences raising their families. Dave was particularly proud that one of his sons was a star in Silicon Valley.
A good guy gone. I will miss him.
The kids from Parkland were a major story all trough 2018 - from Valentines day to the mid term elections on November 6th. I have been following many of them since February. They have inspired me in many ways.
Today Carol and I received a flyer in the mail from our local Member of Parliament asking our opinion of Andrew Sheer's attempt to repeal Bill C-71. This is Canada's bill to provide reasonable background checks for those wishing to purchase firearms. I am completely in support of keeping C-71 in place and enhancing it.
We kept Eryn at our place for a couple of days while Bronwen and Glenn moved into their new house.
